The boathouses shared between the three rowing clubs at Damflask Reservoir are very outdated; there is no mains electricity, one toilet between 250+ rowers and the boathouses are made with asbestos. The club have had a very successful Alumni Weekend, with dinner on Saturday and alumni rowing today. The club also had the great opportunity to name two of our new boats after great SURC alumni. - Our novice's 8+ has been named after Dave Starkey. Dave was a big part of the club's beginnings, and a great character in the university. His good friend from the club Brian James put forward Dave's name because of his contribution to the club, and Dave's wife and daughter were here

Our seniors had a fantastic weekend in Newcastle, racing at the BUCS 4s and 8s head on Sunday. After some uncertainty about the event due to weather, sadly the novice events were cancelled, but luckily our seniors got to put their hard training into good use on a very choppy river Tyne. Big day for SURC Alumnus Robbie Schofield, who had a successful day at HRR at bow seat of the Molesey B.C 4+, easily beating Upper Thames R.C in their heat of the Britannia Challenge Cup. After our women's success last weekend, our Senior Men are looking to be similarly successful today in their time trial to qualify for Henley Royal Regatta, competing in the Temple Challenge Cup. Watch out for updates as the day goes on!

Last weekend five of our senior women went down to Henley to compete at Henley Women’s Regatta. Sarah, Harriet, Martha and Gigs were in the Aspirational Academic Coxless Fours and Nicole Lamb representing Sheffield in a composite boat in the Championship Eights. In order for the four to qualify for the race our girls had to complete a time trial, which they did in strong form, managing to qualify for the event.
